GeneGenius AI & Genetics Summer Lab
A 2-day hands-on programme on forensic science, genetics & computational biology for Grades 8–12 students.
About GeneGenius
Join the GeneGenius by Masters’ Union, an experiential learning programme for Grades 8–12 students. In 48 hours, students step into the shoes of forensic scientists to solve a simulated crime case using DNA extraction, gel electrophoresis, and Python coding to detect genetic mutations using AI — all on real lab equipment.

What’s the Outcome of the Forensic Lab Programme?
Extract real DNA, run a live DNA fingerprint test using gel electrophoresis, and solve a forensic case in under 48 hours.
Write Python code to identify genetic mutations in DNA sequences — no prior coding experience required.
Present your findings and defend your conclusions before a panel of biology & healthcare professionals.
Get live insights & career guidance from biologists, researchers, & industry scientists.
Earn an industry-recognised certificate signed by leading scientists.
Skills You’ll Gain from This Biology Programme
Lab Techniques & Scientific Observation
Work with real equipment, follow research protocols, and document findings like a practising scientist.
Genetics & DNA Analysis
Understand how DNA encodes life and how a single mutation can change biological outcomes.
Forensic Science Applications
Use DNA evidence to crack a real crime case the way forensic investigators actually do.
Computational Biology & Python Coding
Use Python and pattern detection to scan DNA sequences the way genetic researchers do.
Scientific Communication
Present your findings and defend your conclusions to a panel of working scientists.
Critical Thinking & Data Interpretation
Analyse biological evidence, interpret gel electrophoresis results, and conclude real constraints.
What’s the Programme Flow?
From kitchen chemistry to a solved crime
Meet Your Lab Partner
Team up with your fellow forensic analyst and get your first look at the case files.
Extract DNA Sample
Extract real DNA from a strawberry using simple household chemicals and watch it appear before your eyes.
Masterclass on Forensic Genetics
Learn the mental framework every biologist uses, from first observation to final hypothesis.
The Crime Scene Walkthrough
Get a crime scene briefing — a house was robbed, and your job is to decode the findings through the DNA.
Run Gel Electrophoresis
Load the PCR products, run the gels, and separate each suspect’s unique genetic signature.
Evidence Analysis & Verdict
Analyse your banding patterns, match the crime scene DNA, and present your verdict to the group.
Learn how computers analyse DNA at scale
Masterclass by Bio Practitioners
Learn from a working scientist on how biology is driving breakthroughs in medicine, forensics, and biotechnology.
Mutation Detection Briefing
Learn how mutation detection works using Python and real DNA sequences.
Write Code That Reads DNA
Generate Python code in Google Colab, load real gene sequences, and detect mutations letter by letter.
DNA Pattern Detection at Scale
Extend your code to simulate a real genome dataset and discover why AI does what no human reader ever could.
Research Presentation & Defence
Present your findings to a panel of real biologists, researchers & healthcare professionals, defend your conclusions, and earn your recognition.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can participate in Bio School Weekend?
The programme is open to students from Grades 8–12 who are curious about biology, science, and how the living world actually works. No prior lab or coding experience is required.
Do I need prior biology or coding knowledge?
No, students will be taught everything from scratch. Our scientists and mentors guide participants through every step, from handling equipment to writing their first lines of Python.
Can I come alone, or do I need a team?
Both are welcome. Solo students will be grouped into teams on Day 1. You can also register as a pre-formed group of 4 or more at the team rate.
What is the schedule like?
It is a two-day intensive programme. Each day runs from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM with breaks for lunch and networking. Day 1 focuses on DNA extraction and the forensic investigation. Day 2 covers AI-driven genetics and career exploration.
Will participants receive a certificate?
Yes, all participants receive an industry-recognised certificate. Top teams are recognised with awards and accolades at the closing ceremony.
