Masters Union Admissions

Who are We Looking For?

You are an ideal Masters’ Union candidate if:

You have made the best use of the opportunities available to you.

We understand that we all come from very different contexts and backgrounds, and hence, we all had different opportunities & resources growing up. What matters is whether you made the most use of what was provided to you. Just having attended a top university is not enough - did you leverage that opportunity to the fullest is what matters. Similarly, having attended an ‘unbranded’ is not a disadvantage, if you were engaged, participative and left an impact there.

You are open to opposing viewpoints & new ideas

If you’re up for a good & healthy debate and are ready to consider/accept others’ point of views, you will be able to evolve much faster as a human being. You will also be able to make the most of your Masters’ Union experience.

You are humble and open to being coached

If you know what you don't know and are ready to learn to fill the gaps, you will be able to soak in more knowledge from your peers and masters.

You are curious to learn new things

If unanswered questions keep you up at night and if you feel the need to google any questions, thought or idea that enters your mind, you will be able to better make use of the information disseminated in a typical Masters’ Union classroom.

You are motivated to create impact

Masters’ Union will throw a lot of challenges at you and you will need to be motivated to work on them and collaborate with your peers. You cannot be holding your peers back due to a lack of motivation.

You exhibit strong leadership performance and potential

We know leadership is manifested through different forms - entrepreneurial ventures, captaining sports teams or volunteer projects, etc. Masters’ Union is looking for students who are driven to tackle challenging problems and leave the world a better place.

Application Guide

Guidelines for the MU-BAAT examination

All students applying for the PGP-TBM programme are compulsorily required to take the MU-BAAT examination. The cost of the examination is included in the application fees.

The MU-BAAT holistically evaluates candidates across various parameters - behavioural and analytical aptitude along with written and verbal communication skills. Candidates will be presented with multiple sections that evaluate them across these parameters.

The MU-BAAT will be conducted on the weekend following the admission deadline. Further details regarding the timing and slot booking are provided on the completion of their application deadline.

Here are the guidelines for the MU-BAAT examination -

Registration & Fees : All candidates who complete and submit their admissions application are automatically registered for the MU-BAAT examination, provided the student has indicated the preference in their application form. There is no additional fee for the MU-BAAT examination and is covered within the INR 3000/- cost of the admissions application.

Timelines :The MU-BAAT will be conducted 7 days after the completion of each admission round. Candidates will have an option to choose a timeslot to take the examination on the day the exam is scheduled.

Logistics : The MU-BAAT is an online examination that can be taken from your laptop/desktop and requires a secure internet connection. It is a proctored examination, which closely tracks the candidate's behaviour during the course of their attempt, and requires access to the laptop/desktop webcam and microphone.
Calculators are neither allowed nor required, but candidates can use 2-3 plain sheets of paper to solve the test.

Scores : There is no cut-off for the MU-BAAT examination. It provides the admissions committee with an insight to a candidate's verbal and analytical skills along with their creativity.

Prep : The MU-BAAT examination provides a benchmark of your analytical and verbal skills and is designed on a similar basis to other management aptitude examinations.

Any individual with a knowledge of high-school mathematical fundamentals along with a strong appetite for reading first-rate literature from diverse sources should find the examination appropriate for their skill level.

Structure : The MU-BAAT examination will be divided into two phases -
  • 1 hour examination testing your verbal and analytical skills
  • 1 hour examination testing your creativitys

Both phases of the examination will have to be completed in the same testing window. Candidates can choose if they wish to break between both phases.

Our Policy on Entrance Exams and Cut-Offs

Here is a brief summary of our entrance examination policy -

  • All applicants are required to take the MU-BAAT, or Masters’ Union Business Aptitude Admissions Test.
  • Applicants can also submit valid GMAT, GMAT Focus, GRE or CAT scores, in their online application. The admissions committee considers the best test score if multiple options are submitted.
  • We do not accept NMAT scores.

Cut-offs : Masters’ Union does not have any cut-offs for any examination. Our admissions evaluation process looks at a holistic evaluation of a candidate’s profile and their selection depends on an equal emphasis of their academic and professional experiences, essays and entrance examination scores, along with interview performances.

Frequently Asked Questions

Eligibility

What is the typical student's profile at Masters' Union?

Close

We don’t have any ‘typical’ student profile. The PGP-TBM welcomes students from across diverse geographical, academic and professional backgrounds. We encourage you to visit our cohort statistics page to get a better idea of the student profiles of graduates of the PGP TBM programme.

I’ve just completed/will be completing my undergraduate studies. Is Masters’ Union a right fit for me?

Work experience is not a mandatory requirement for admission. If you feel you have demonstrable leadership potential along with meritorious academic accomplishments, we encourage you to apply to Masters’ Union! Freshers from our second cohort have had unparalleled career trajectories with our average package for freshers at INR 24.44 Lakhs.

How many years of work experience do I need to be admitted?

Close

While 2-5 years of work experience is ideal, it is not a mandatory requirement for admission. Applicants in their final year of graduation with demonstrable maturity and leadership experiences are encouraged to apply.

What's the minimum qualifying GPA?

Close

Is there an age limit for entry?

There is no age limit for entry. However, the programme is most suitable for those who are at an early stage in their careers. If you have more work experience, we encourage you to get in touch with the admissions team at admissions@mastersunion.org, who will evaluate your profile and advise you accordingly.

I have very little (or no) work experience. How will that impact my placement prospects at Masters' Union?

As a candidate with less than 2 years of experience, you will not be competing for jobs with more senior peers. Companies offer jobs relevant to different experience bands (0-2 years, 3-5 years, 5-8 years, 8+ years, etc). Organisation would focus more on your skill set as compared to your past experience.

However, for freshers from our second cohort, we witnessed an average salary of INR 24.44 Lakhs, with placement in prestigious companies.

I don't have a business background. Will this impact my chances for admission?

We value diversity at every level and welcome applications from a variety of professional and academic backgrounds, including the arts, law, medicine, military, non-profit, etc. As with all candidates, we will be looking for demonstrable leadership potential, and will consider this in conjunction with your professional experience and past performance, when assessing your application.

I don't have an undergraduate degree. Can I still be considered for admission?

Yes! While the vast majority of our participants have undergraduate and/or advanced degrees, this is not compulsory for admission. Candidates who do not hold an undergraduate degree, but who have an excellent career record, examination scores and leadership potential are also welcome to apply.

I am from a non-tech background. Is the Masters’ Union PGP TBM a right fit for me?

While the program might have the word ‘technology’ integrated within it, our programme is far more holistic in what it encompasses and allows for students from non-tech backgrounds to blend seamlessly in.

We ensure our graduates are equipped with the knowledge and practical skills to work on a diverse range of tools, from programming concepts to software design. As leaders at the intersection of business, technology, design, marketing and many more - we believe tech is only one out of the several toolkits you will need to acquire at Masters’ Union.

Students who choose to immerse themselves and have a more technology focussed emphasis for their journeys and curate their own academic journey through their elective choices.

Application Queries

Can I get a callback from Masters' Union?

Given the volume of requests, we’d encourage you to reach out to the admissions team via email at admissions@mastersunion.org . If you’d still like to connect with us on call, connect with our counselling team on WhatsApp using the following link.

Can I defer my admission offer from Masters' Union to the next year?

Currently, we are not offering the option to defer the admission offer. Those who cannot join the programme in the current year are advised to apply again for the next year.

Are all candidates interviewed?

Post the application and entrance examination (MU-BAAT) stage, candidates are shortlisted for interviews. Only shortlisted candidates are invited for an interview.

If my application has been unsuccessful, may I reapply in the next round?

No, you cannot reapply in the next round. Unsuccessful applicants can reapply for the next intake, next year. Re-applicants are requested to submit a new online application unless otherwise indicated.

Please exercise your own judgement in deciding if you have made any significant changes in your new profile since your first application, that would make a significant difference to your admissions chances.

Are any of the rounds more or less competitive than others?

Close

Each round is equally competitive. The acceptance ratio is the same for all rounds. Most importantly, you should dedicate enough time and thought to your application so that it accurately represents your strengths and talents.

However, if scholarships are a priority, we encourage you to apply in Round 1.

Can I get my profile evaluated?

Feel free to connect with the admissions team to understand your fitment with the programme. While you are welcome to send your CV to admissions@mastersunion.org for a preliminary conversation, due to a large volume of requests, our responses to your requests might be delayed.

Entrances & Essays

Does Masters Union have a cut-off for its entrance examination?

Close

Masters’ Union follows a holistic evaluation approach for admissions and does not have a cut-off for any entrance examination. Our selection is based on a combination of your academic and professional experience, essays, entrance exam scores and interview performances.

All applicants are required to take the MU-BAAT examination, conducted on the weekend after the admissions deadline. In addition, students can choose to submit their valid GMAT, GMAT Focus, GRE and CAT scores in the online application as well. We do not accept NMAT scores.

Does Masters’ Union accept GMAT Focus Edition?

Yes. We now accept the latest GMAT Focus Edition and it aligns with our admissions criteria.

Is the same reporting policy applicable to both GMAT and GMAT Focus Edition? Will this impact my application?

Close

Yes, the same reporting policy applies to both the GMAT Focus Edition and standard GMAT. You will have the option to report the scores of both versions of the GMAT in our application form. The choice of taking the GMAT Focus Edition will not have any negative impact on your application.

Note: The conversion table designed by GMAT, is to help you convert your GMAT Focus score to the equivalent standard GMAT score and vice versa. To convert your scores, locate your GMAT Focus score in the left column and find the corresponding standard GMAT score in the right column.

Can you give me more details about the MU-BAAT examination?

The MU-BAAT is an internal examination used to test your academic and professional fitment with the PGP-TBM programme.

All applicants applying for the PGP-TBM are required to take the MU-BAAT examination. The cost of the MU-BAAT examination is included in the application fees. The MU-BAAT is conducted on the weekend following each admission deadline. Details regarding the timing and slot booking are provided on the completion of the application deadline.

The examination includes three sections which include aptitude assessment, mini-games, and communication skills evaluation. Applicants can expect questions that would measure their speaking and written communication along with analytical, logical and behavioural skills.

What about the essay section?

The essays are included as a part of the MU-BAAT examination. In the MU-BAAT examination, applicants will have to respond to one on-the-spot text essay (300-word limit) and two video essays (5 mins each).

We’re looking for clarity and consistency in your thoughts, a high level of critical thinking skills and how well you frame your responses.

Admission Policies

Test Score Validity Policy

The MU-BAAT scores will be valid only for the year in which the test was taken. The same goes for the CAT exam - we accept scores for the examinations conducted in the same academic year. You are free to submit GMAT/GMAT Focus/GRE scores as long as they are valid.

Application Submission Policy

If the applicant misses both the rounds of a particular intake, the application form and its entire contents will expire. At this point, the applicant will be required to complete a new application from scratch, for the next intake.

An application will only be evaluated once it is complete. If it is completed after the deadline, it will be reviewed for the next round or (in the case of last round applicants) the following intake.

Hostel Policy

Close

Masters’ Union offers opt-in accommodation to students admitted to the PGP-TBM programme. We offer a variety of options, each close to our campus and equipped with amenities to ensure a comfortable living experience.

The fees for the course, as mentioned on the website, does not include hostel fees. The full fee structure including the hostel is sent to all our admitted students along with their offer letter.

Feedback Policy

Due to the large number of applications we receive for each intake, and the confidentiality of the deliberations of the admissions committee, we would be unable to provide detailed individual feedback on unsuccessful applications.

Is the fees refunded in case if I decide to drop out of the programme?

Fees once submitted is not eligible for refunds.

Masters’ Union reserves the right to amend this Refund Policy at any time without prior notice.
