Frequently Asked
Questions

What is a typical day of a Masters’ Union student?

At Masters’ Union, our dynamic and hands-on pedagogy ensures that each day offers a unique learning experience. With 2-3 classes per day, each spanning 120 minutes, students delve deep into diverse business topics, engaging with expert faculty and their peers in stimulating discussions and practical exercises. Beyond classes, students immerse themselves in a variety of enriching activities throughout the week- CXO Sessions, Industry Practicums, Career Counselling Sessions etc.

Can applicants tailor their Masters’ Union PGP TBM?

Masters’ Union offers more than 87 electives, giving students the chance to construct a tailor-made postgraduate program that fits their personal and professional goals. We have new-age, core, and industry concentrations. Students are free to pursue a generalist path toward management or specialise in particular areas by choosing industry concentrations. Regardless of the path students decide to take during their elective terms, everybody graduates with the same PGP TBM certificate with an opportunity to choose industry concentrations.

What is the difference between the Flagship PGP TBM program vs the PGP TBM YLC?

The content and pedagogy of both PGP TBM and PGP TBM YLC remain identical. The PGP TBM Young Leaders Cohort is specifically designed for individuals with 0–1 year of pre-MBA experience. It follows the same curriculum as the PGP TBM but spans 24 months instead of 16 months. A key highlight of the PGP TBM YLC is a mandatory 3-month internship, offering students practical, real-world exposure to prepare them for leadership roles. Additionally, each core course is taught over 30 hours instead of 20 hours in the PGP TBM. This ensures that students build a strong foundation in critical academic concepts.

Are the Scholarships the Same for PGP TBM and PGP TBM YLC?

Yes, the scholarships available for both the PGP TBM and the PGP TBM YLC are the same. For detailed information on the scholarship options, please refer to our admissions page.

How will applicants be graded at the Masters’ Union?

The final grades for most courses will be determined by a mix of class participation, quizzes, simulations, group assignments, projects and exams. Masters’ Union grades the exams on a Standard Normal Curve, also called a Z-curve, with a mean of 3.0. There are no forced-to-fails. To graduate, students must maintain a mean grade of 2.1 in both the core and electives courses.

What are the benefits of the 16-month programme?

The PGP TBM at Masters’ Union, with its unique 16-month format, encapsulates the best global practices in management education through a pedagogical approach. Designed to be a fast-paced academic experience, it includes 13 months of rigorous academic training in core areas and industry concentrations with a three-month period of internship and industry immersion, and opportunities to network and seek mentorship. The course is designed for individuals with more than 1 year of work experience.Being in this state of constant engagement gives an opportunity for students to learn how to set priorities and make choices about learning, socialising and personal time from the very beginning of the programme, making them an expert at decision-making, which is one of the most valued qualities in a business leader.

What are the benefits of the 24-month PGP TBM YLC programme?

The PGP TBM YLC, on the other hand, is specifically crafted for individuals with 0–1 year of pre-MBA experience and spans 24 months. While the content and pedagogy are identical to the flagship program, the extended timeline allows for deeper learning and gradual development. Each core course in the PGP TBM YLC is delivered over 30 hours instead of 20, ensuring students build a solid foundation in critical concepts. A key feature of this program is the mandatory three-month internship, which provides students with hands-on industry experience to prepare them for leadership roles. With the additional time and focus on practical exposure, the PGP TBM YLC offers an enriching pathway for early-stage professionals to kickstart their careers with confidence.

If an applicant is from a non-tech background, is the Masters’ Union a right fit for them?

Both the 16-month PGP TBM and the 24-month PGP TBM YLC are designed to seamlessly integrate students from diverse backgrounds, including non-tech fields. While the programs introduce concepts like programming and software design, they remain approachable for those without prior technical expertise. Technology is just one of many skill sets students acquire, alongside business, design, and marketing. Electives allow students to customize their learning, choosing tech-focused courses or exploring other areas like finance, marketing, or entrepreneurship. With practical learning, mentorship, and flexibility, Masters’ Union ensures all students, regardless of their background, are prepared for leadership roles in a dynamic business world.

What is the typical student's profile at Masters’ Union?

Masters’ Union doesn’t have a ‘typical’ student profile. Both the PGP TBM and PGP TBM YLC attract individuals from diverse academic, professional, and geographical backgrounds. The PGP TBM typically includes professionals with more than 1 year of work experience, while the PGP TBM YLC is tailored for recent graduates or those with 0–1 year of experience. This diversity enriches peer learning and creates a dynamic classroom environment.

If an applicant just completed/will be completing their undergraduate studies, is Masters’ Union a right fit for them?

Work experience is not a mandatory requirement for admission to the PGP TBM YLC. However, for the PGP TBM you must have a minimum 1 year of work experience. All those who will be completing their undergrad degree by May of the following year will be eligible to apply.

How many years of work experience does an applicant need to be admitted?

For the PGP TBM program, applicants typically need a minimum of 2 years of work experience to gain the most from its fast-paced and immersive curriculum. However, work experience is not mandatory for admission to the PGP TBM YLC, which is designed specifically for freshers and individuals with up to 1 year of experience.

What's the minimum qualifying GPA?

Masters’ Union does not have a minimum GPA requirement as the GPA system is not a global grading methodology. We focus on the courses students have taken, grades received and overall academic performance.

Is there an age limit for entry?

There is no strict age limit for entry into Masters’ Union programs. However, the eligibility varies based on work experience:   For the PGP TBM Young Leaders Cohort (PGP TBM YLC), applicants should have 0–1 year of experience. For the PGP TBM, applicants are expected to have more than 1 year of work experience. Individuals with more than 10 years of work experience are encouraged to contact the admissions team at admissions@mastersunion.org for a personalized evaluation and guidance on their application.

If an applicant doesn't have a business background, will this impact their chances for admission?

We value diversity at every level and welcome applications from a variety of professional and academic backgrounds, including the arts, law, medicine, military, and non-profit. As with all candidates, we will be looking for demonstrable leadership potential and will consider this in conjunction with their professional experience and past performance when assessing their application.

If an applicant doesn’t have an undergraduate degree, can they still be considered for admission?

Yes! While the vast majority of our participants have undergraduate and/or advanced degrees, this is not compulsory for admission. Candidates who do not hold an undergraduate degree, but who have an excellent career record, examination scores and leadership potential are also welcome to apply. All those who will be completing their undergrad degree by May of the following year will be eligible to apply.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a candidate who uses available opportunities to the best of their ability, is curious to learn new things, remains open to opposing viewpoints and new ideas, and exhibits strong leadership performance and potential.

Can applicants get a call back from Masters’ Union?

Given the volume of requests, we’d encourage students to reach out to the admissions team via email at admissions@mastersunion.org. If students would still like to connect with us on call, reach out to our counselling team on WhatsApp using the following link.

Can applicants defer their admission offer from Masters’ Union to the next year?

Currently, we are not offering the option to defer admission. Those who cannot join the programme in the current year are advised to apply again next year.

Are all applicants interviewed?

Only candidates who have been shortlisted post their application submission will be invited for the personal interview.

Are any of the rounds more or less competitive than others?

Each round is equally competitive, with the same acceptance ratio across all rounds. The most important factor is to dedicate sufficient time and effort into your application to accurately showcase your strengths and talents. However, applying in Round 1 offers several advantages:

  • Scholarships: If scholarships are a priority, we encourage applying in Round 1.

  • Hostel Room Choice: Round 1 students get priority in selecting their hostel rooms, ensuring they can choose from the best available options.

  • Notice Period: They have ample time to serve notice periods at their current jobs.

  • Break Before Studies: They can take a well-deserved break before starting 16 months of intensive study.

  • Loan and Funding: They have more time to apply for loans and arrange funds.

Can applicants get their profile evaluated?

Feel free to connect with the admissions team to understand your fitment with the programme. While applicants are welcome to send their CV to admissions@mastersunion.org for a preliminary conversation, due to a large volume of requests, our responses might be delayed.

Does Masters’ Union have a cut-off for its AI Assessment?

Masters’ Union follows a holistic evaluation approach for admissions and does not have a cut-off for the AI Assessment. Our selection process considers a combination of academic and professional experience, communication skills, and other application components.

Does Masters’ Union accept GMAT Focus Edition?

Yes. We now accept the latest GMAT Focus Edition and it aligns with our admissions criteria.

Is the same reporting policy applicable to both GMAT and GMAT Focus Edition? Will this impact application?

Yes, the same reporting policy applies to both the GMAT Focus Edition and standard GMAT. Students will have the option to report the scores of both versions of the GMAT in our application form. The choice of taking the GMAT Focus Edition will not have any negative impact on the application. Note: The conversion table designed by GMAT, is to help students convert their GMAT Focus score to the equivalent standard GMAT score and vice versa. To convert their scores, students should locate their GMAT Focus score in the left column and find the corresponding standard GMAT score in the right column.

Are there more details about the AI Assessment?

The AI Assessment is a key part of the application process, to be taken by shortlisted students on the day of their personal interview. The video-based AI Assessment represents our commitment to staying at the forefront of technology, offering a cutting-edge and unbiased admissions experience. This assessment will focus purely on your critical thinking skills, and what you can bring to Masters' Union. It requires no preparation - just show up as your true self.

Application Submission Policy

If the applicant misses all the three rounds of a particular intake, the application form and its entire content will expire. At this point, the applicant will be required to complete a new application from scratch, for the next intake. An application will only be evaluated once it is complete. If it is completed after the deadline, it will be reviewed for the next round or (in the case of last round applicants) the following intake.

Hostel Policy

Masters’ Union offers opt-in accommodation to students admitted to the PGP TBM. We offer a variety of options, each close to our campus and equipped with amenities to ensure a comfortable living experience. The fees for the course, as mentioned on the website, do not include hostel fees. The full fee structure, including that of the hostel, is sent to all our admitted students along with their offer letter.

Feedback Policy

Due to the large number of applications we receive for each intake, and the confidentiality of the deliberations of the admissions committee, we would be unable to provide detailed individual feedback on unsuccessful applications.

Refund Policy

Fees once submitted cannot be refunded. Masters’ Union reserves the right to amend this Refund Policy at any time without prior notice.
